StartRight Research Study: Getting the right classification and treatment from diagnosis of Diabetes

Diabetes is a very common disease, and there are two types which have very different treatments. It is often difficult for doctors to tell which kind of diabetes a person has which can cause people take the wrong medication. Researchers are trying to understand more about diabetes and that’s why StartRight aims to help doctors diagnosing more accurately diabetes and tell the type of diabetes a person has when they are first diagnosed.

This study is recruiting people over 30 with a diagnoses of diabetes in the last 12 months and it will help you improving the outcome of your recent diagnosis of diabetes and it will help others in the future.

The study involves 4 appointments with 2 face to face appointments at King’s mill hospital and 2 phone or email consultations within the space of 3 years. They will need to collect some data as your height, weight, blood pressure as well as some samples (blood and urine).

If you are eligible, you will receive shortly a text message and a letter giving your more information.

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our clinicians for more information or the Lead GP for this study, Dr Beltran-Martinez.
